RESPONSIBILITIES

We are currently recruiting a Trainee to join our Mining, Metals & Industries (MMI) team in Hong Kong on a full-time fixed term basis for 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team to obtain hands-on experience within a fast-paced, results focused, global organization that values diversity. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the origination, structuring and execution of a broad range of structured finance and advisory transactions in the Asian markets and for our Asian clients' projects globally.

The team has an active deal flow and the successful candidate will be working in a leading global franchise on the execution of financings and debt advisories for our Asian clients. Your main missions will be the following:

Transaction support to the relevant deal team leader on arranging and debt advisory mandates, including:

  • Financial modeling and analysis of financial projections
  • Review of various documentation, including information memorandum and finance documents
  • Review of various due diligence reports
  • Assist in preparation of credit applications and other internal approval requests
  • Research on companies, market and industry trends
  • Client related support, including:
    • Prepare presentations and pitches for clientsa
    • General research
    • Respect and adhere to compliance practices and other internal requirements
    • Assist in reporting tools
    • Stay abreast of developments in the mining, metals and industries sectors as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market.

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Engineering or similar degree
  • Good knowledge of accounting and finance and/or legal, e.g. proof of some professional exams or selective subjects inaccounting and finance and/or legal during university study would be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of credit and risk assessment
  • Basic understanding of project finance is preferred but not a must
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Able to present findings concisely in writing
  • Demonstrate the capacity to work in a team environment, on collective success
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and deliver assigned task under tight deadline
  • Display responsibility and act ethically
  • Display interests in the mining, metals and industries sectors, and energy transition
  • Fluent English is mandatory. Other Asian language would be a plus.

This is a fixed term 12 month Trainee contract with Societe Generale. You will form part of the team on a full time basis. Department Description

The Mining, Metals & Industries (MMI) team is supporting energy transition by providing long-term structured & project financing solutions to mining & metals companies to produce critical minerals and/or decarbonise their production value chain to produce green/low carbon metals. The team's involvement in energy transition has extended to industrial activities such as financing the battery value chain (from processed minerals to precursors, cathodes, anodes to battery cells for electric vehicles), and financing other industrial projects relating to energy transition, circular economy and decarbonisation initiatives around production of minerals.

Besides providing structured & project financing, the team is providing debt financial advisory to companies looking to raise large scale and complex funding for their projects in the mining, metals and industries sectors globally. This is a global activity operating out of London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Sydney and Hong Kong. The team holds client relationship management responsibilities, and is able to advise and/or arrange debt financing for its clients and their projects globally.

The Mining, Metals & Industries (MMI) team is part of a wider Natural Resources and Infrastructure business division that all contribute to financing of real economies and energy transition projects.
