The Programme

We are looking for Interns to join our team for a three to six-month period. The internship requires 40 hours of work per week, and we offer a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Our internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience with current financial services domain and train under professionals with decades of experience in banking.

The intern will work with a team of consultants of different seniorities who will provide you with guidance and support, such that you can train alongside them and become fully self-sufficient.

As an intern, you will work with the Banking Management Consulting team and assist them in external client projects as well as internal Business Development (BDM) opportunities. You will be working with clients to elicit and document system requirements, understand the client’s business model and processes, and drive solution design with the client to meet operational and regulatory challenges.  

Within the BDM, you will participate in carrying out research analysis and marketing campaigns, creating marketable assets, and actively contributing to sales opportunities.

As an intern, you can take multiple modules from the Synpulse New Employee School (NES) to learn and integrate into the role over the course of the internship.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in aspects of project execution, typically including developing hypotheses, data collection and analysis, conducting research, documenting, and potentially presenting to a wide range of audiences.
  • Execute solutions to complex problems, develop knowledge of the Banking value chain, and demonstrate the ability to think independently and communicate concisely.
  • Support leadership in business development efforts, including proposal creation, development of thought leadership articles and other marketing initiatives.
  • Job shadow under consultants to understand user needs, and support documentation of user requirements and agreed solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the project and client teams, as well as an expanding network within Synpulse.
  • Be mentored by a team of Synpulse consultants willing to share their career learnings while participating in Synpulse company updates, fireside chats, and leisure events.
  • Develop knowledge of the Banking industry and key trends.
  • Be a key member of an entrepreneurial team – stepping up and taking responsibility when needed, communicating feedback clearly, and receiving direction to increase your industry specific knowledge and practical experience across Banking transformation. 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (ideally 3rd/4th year students).
  • Prior internship experience is a plus, although not a must have, within Banking or Consulting.
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments within Synpulse.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex situations, to lead and direct the analysis processes.
  • Highly analytical and structured in problem solving.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Cantonese/Mandarin is a plus.
  • Good understanding of private banking/wealth management business.
