Industrial Design Intern

The Programme

The Industrial Design Intern will assist experienced designers and product managers with multiple product design and development projects.  

This is a paid internship for 3-6 months.

The goal is for interns to gain hands-on experience and make valuable connections within the industry. 

What You Will Do

• Conducting research to inform the design process, such as researching materials, manufacturing techniques, competitive products, industry trends, etc.
• Sketching and rendering product concepts and design solutions both by hand and using CAD software like SOLIDWORKS, Rhino, etc.
• Creating basic 3D models and prototypes to demo design concepts.
• Assisting with prototype production by preparing files for 3D printing, CNC routing, etc. and helping assemble prototypes.
• Supporting design analysis such as assessing design options against engineering requirements, use cases, and manufacturability guidelines.
• Supporting engineering teams with dimensioning drawings, product specifications documentation, and design files.
• Helping prepare design presentations.
• Staying up to date on the latest design tools, materials, and techniques.
• Contributing creative ideas to help push design concepts forward.
• Learning all aspects of the new product development process from concept through production.
• Performing additional duties as assigned that support the design team. 

Required Skills and Abilities

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Keyshot, etc.
• Strong sketching and rendering skills.
• Good written and verbal communication abilities in English.
• Ability to take and apply feedback to improve designs.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Team player attitude and self-motivated work ethic.
