About Finance and Operations Consulting

We support financial services clients (e.g. Banking and Capital Markets, Insurance, Private and Wealth Management) in finance and operations transformation and digitalization of their businesses. We advise clients to meet their tactical needs, optimize performance and deliver strategic initiatives.  
We leverage digitization to re-engineer their operating models, create better customer experience and value for the business.  
We also assist clients in designing and implementing enterprise-wide transformation programs (e.g. Front-office, Finance, Operations, Compliance, etc.) to ensure that the client continues to operate within the boundaries of relevant legislations and regulations.

Our internship program provides you a great opportunity to embark on a thriving career in PwC Consulting. Subject to your performance in the program, you may be given a return offer to join our Graduate Programme upon completion of your university studies.  
Placement Intake: July / January. 
Placement Duration: 6 months / 12 months.

What You Will Do

As a placement intern with this program, you will be working with reputational financial services clients to achieve their strategic goals related to finance and operations.  
Your   focus and day-to-day experience may include:

  • Participate in meetings and discussions with client teams to understand and assess the current state of their business and operating models. 
  • Research, gather and scope information to analyze the client’s company and its industry / sector to provide proactive solutions in enhancing business and operational efficiencies. 
  • Deliver insights on business cases related to finance and operations transformation, including but not limited, digitalization and optimization of end-to-end operating model as well as business processes. 
  • Assist clients to strategically plan their implementation roadmap with action plans, key milestones and resources required. 
  • Support clients in managing transformation projects, by planning timelines, tracking status, creating status dashboards, developing communication cadence, hosting discussion meetings, managing stakeholders etc. 
  • Assist in the delivery of implementation projects in finance and operations transformation, including but not limited, designing target operating model for core finance and operations functions and liaising with clients to draft business requirements for system implementation. 
  • Advise clients in view of their pressing regulatory challenges through enhancing clients’ internal governance and controls policies and procedures, performing gap analysis of clients’ regulatory compliance and recommending remediation actions, assisting implementation of new regulations, and identifying regulatory technology adoption opportunities. 
  • Assist in the development of tailored end user computing solutions/ tools that suit clients’ needs.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Penultimate-year students, preferably with a Business Degree majoring in accounting, finance, economics, management, information systems, etc. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Access. 
  • Knowledge in data analytics (e.g. VBA, Python, Alteryx), data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau and Power BI) and automation and workflow tools (e.g. OutSystems and Blue Prism) appreciated; and 
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
