Social Impact

Financial security is key to long-term well-being, but for millions of people around the world it remains out of reach. That’s why we support nonprofits that make our communities stronger and more resilient. We partner with organizations that create access to better job opportunities and savings tools for people and families most in need. In times of humanitarian crisis and natural disasters, we act through trusted partners to alleviate suffering and help communities rebuild. Each and every day, our employees play a critical role in helping us deliver on our commitment to creating social impact in our local communities and on a global scale.

“At BlackRock, we have an opportunity, a responsibility even, to make a positive difference to society.”
Larry Fink
Founder, Chairman and CEO, BlackRock

BlackRock and Kiva partnering to further financial inclusion

Each year, we give each of our employees funding to lend a microloan to an entrepreneur of their choice through Kiva. This initiative is just one of the ways we empower our people to contribute to the causes they care about. Together, we’re making an impact in communities around the world.

Employee-led initiative

Giving back is part of our culture. We encourage you to be active and engaged in the charitable efforts that mean the most to you. As a BlackRock employee, you’re encouraged to make a personal impact on the lives of others and contribute to society in purposeful ways.

BlackRock Volunteers

Throughout the year, we sponsor volunteer events that are open to everyone. Such as crowd-mapping to aid emergency response workers, packing meals at local food pantries and mentoring underserved youth. You’re also encouraged to organize your own volunteer events and recruit your colleagues to join. Employees also receive 2 work days off each year to volunteer their time and talents.

BlackRock Matches

We make it easy for you to give back by matching your personal donations to eligible organizations each year, dollar for dollar up to $5,000 (or local equivalent). We also match your volunteer time at $15 per hour, or $30 per hour if you volunteer with 10 or more colleagues. Board service, mentoring and time spent volunteering are all eligible for match time.

BlackRock Gives

Our 23 BlackRock Gives committees located in offices around the globe, serve as stewards of BlackRock’s philanthropic culture by awarding local nonprofits, nominated by their colleagues, with funding twice per year.
